Oliver Webb will return to Formula Renault 3.5 in 2013 with Fortec, the team that took Robin Frijns to this year’s crown.
Webb raced in the series with Pons last season, before moving to America to contest Indy Lights with Sam Schmidt Motorsports.
The 21-year-old Briton spent three years with Fortec in Formula Renault UK and British Formula 3 from 2008 to ’10.
“We were speaking to a variety of championships and teams for the 2013 season but, when the opportunity arose with Fortec, it was a clear decision,” said Webb.
Fortec has already signed Formula Renault Eurocup champion Stoffel Vandoorne for its other 2013 FR3.5 seat.
Webb has not won since his Fortec F3 season, and team boss Richard Dutton is keen to give him a chance to show his full potential next year.
“We have a great relationship with him, and we’ve really seen him grow through the years, and he is an incredibly talented driver,” Dutton said.
“We had a fantastic season in FR3.5 during 2012, and we want to regain our championship title; with Stoffel and Oliver on the team I believe we will be top contenders again for 2013.”
